You feel like a king when, escorted by an army of perfectly aligned cypresses, you walk through the seventeenth-century tree-lined avenue. As loyal disciplined soldiers, with dark green arm ours featuring a slender yet imposing shape, they accompany the visitor along an almost 2 kilometre-long path, into a world touching different realities.
Commissioned by the marquis Gian Battista Crivelli, the first of the three part stakes visitors from the Crivelli castle, the sumptuous family residence, to the Santa Maria della Noce sanctuary. A walkable path created to enable people to reach the church easily. What is amazing is how this breath-taking path is perfectly integrated into the surrounding landscape.
From the very first steps, you feel like as if you are walking within a truly monumental building.
The classic statues alternate with cypresses and the view of this very long corridor with floral walls are strikingly beautiful and express the magnificence of the place. However, viewed from the outside, the tree-lined boulevard does not particularly stand out compared to the stunning surroundings. The open fields, the hills and the lawns look as if they have been specifically designed to include this pathway that winds up and downs accordingly. The second leg heads for the Navello church, a genuine treasure chest in the middle of the woods, adorned with frescoes of absolute beauty, which are now threatened by negligence and decay.
The last and most recent leg was realized in the eighteenth century and is not straight like the first two, but it is likewise remarkable due to the presence of “the giant”, a statue of Hercules that proudly dominates a stone staircase.
Walking along this narrow strip of land, so rich in history and art, makes you aware of how many beautiest here are to discover and preserve against time.

A history of woods and miracles, silkworms and copper. Everything started in the early years of the sixteenth century, when two little boys got lost in the forest and were rescued by the Virgin Mary. The mother of Jesus appeared on a walnut tree and pulled them to safety on that freezing night. Two decades later a sanctuary was built and dedicated to the Madonna dellaNoce (Virgin Mary of the Walnut) in honor of that very same miraculous event. The building underwent several changes over the centuries, which partly altered its architecture. The most spectacular plan included the installation of a tree just inside the apse. However, fearing that believers might start to worship the tree rather than the Holy Virgin, this project was not realized. Anyway, this small church is a small worth-seeing jewel, and its walls, elegantly decorated, are adorned with some fascinating and beautiful paintings, such as an old depiction of the Virgin Mary with Child and “Jesus with the Canaanite woman”. Outside the building, a pretty square evokes the time when a market was held.
Some stone blocks, now turned into comfortable benches, were once used to liquefy metals, such as copper, which was widely traded just in this area. Later, Inverigo became one of the major silkworm-trading centres. Different stories inter twine with one common character: the people. Inverigo, a place where the border between legend and tradition fades away and where visitors can catch a glimpse of the past.
